Qualification Description

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is a program designed for individuals aspiring to become trainers and assessors in various professional environments. Entry Requirements

There are no prerequisite subjects required for entry into this qualification but candidates are required to showcase their vocational competency in the field they intend to teach and assess. Vocational competency refers to a comprehensive understanding of the industry and relevant experience, which may involve holding specific qualifications or units of competency.

To apply, candidates must submit:

    1. A personal statement detailing their proposed teaching and assessing area.
    2. Supporting evidence demonstrating vocational competency, which may include:
    3. Transcript or Statement of Attainment from previous vocational education studies of Certificate II level or higher.
    4. Endorsement letter from an employer highlighting relevant experience and training qualifications.
    5. Comprehensive CV illustrating substantial work experience in the nominated teaching and assessing field.

Packaging Rules

Total number of units = 12 

 

6 core units  plus

 

6 elective units, of which:

 

  • at least 3 must be from Group A
  • of the remaining elective units:
  • all may be from the elective units listed below
  • up to 2 may be from any currently endorsed Certificate III or above training package
  • qualification or accredited course provided that no more than 1 is selected from a Certificate III. 

Elective units chosen must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid vocational outcome for entry-level VET teachers, trainers, and assessors.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Delivery Methods

The delivery is a hybrid delivery strategy that combines both online and offline classroom, practical, and work placement components. If you want you can go for the self-paced program online.
