The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) provides licences to carpenters and other tradespeople.
Domestic Builder – Unlimited (DB-U) – With this licence, you may carry out contract for domestic work.
Domestic Builder – Manager (DB-M) – With this type, you cannot perform any unsupervised work. You may work under the supervision of a registered professional or may hire registered professionals to do the work.
Domestic Builder – Limited (DB-L) – You may arrange, manage, or perform carpentry work as authorised by the Victorian Building Practitioners Board.
There are also Commercial Builder (Limited)Â and Commercial Builder (Unlimited) licence types which allow you to carry out commercial carpentry work.
